Page Rank or Public Relation – An Overview

As the name implies Page Rank (PR) is the rank of the page/url given to it by Google. This indicates how a particular page or URL is seen by them and is granted a number ranging from 0-10. The blogs with higher page ranks, say of 7-9 are considered to be excellent blogs. Moreover, their masters are taken as experts in search engine optimization. They get so famous that other bloggers with low page rank sites find ways to get a link from them.

I view page Rank (PR) as ‘public relation (pr)’. In our world, anybody having good public relations (pr) with authority people is considered as a very resourceful person. He enjoys respect from others.

Say a person is a friend of governor of a state or mayor of a county and he meets them often. The people around him say that he has good pr (public relation). On the other hand, if a person have friendship with common people with no authority or are poor, then the people around him will term him as a low pr (public relation) person. He will be given less or no importance.

In the cyber world, if a blog is well linked up with high page rank (PR) blog then the search engines will consider that site as good. This is because so many high page rank (PR) blogs which are authority in their field are endorsing that site or a particular page.

On the contrary if great number of low page rank websites link up with a site, search engines may give that website low page rank. This is because it is endorsed by unauthoritative sites.

Internet is the “inter-net” where all the websites are linked together one way or the other. You will bear me out that no site can remain aloof without linking to any other site. It will just be a stand alone, dead site if it has no links. Search engines will not be able to trace it out and so it is totally a useless stuff.

Webmasters, if you know that you cannot survive in the cyber world without linking, so an action is required from you immediately. Get high page rank blogs linking to yours.

Never compromise on quality of the links. Of course it is the ‘quality’ and not the quantity that matters when subject of linking comes. I personally prefer only Page Rank 3-10 sites though page rank 0-2 can also be given some consideration. Yes! Getting one way back links from high page rank blogs is an uphill task but it is not impossible though. It needs quite a bit of your time and effort to get high page rank sites linking to yours.

How to do it, what steps are required by you? Keep going through the bloggers resources given on this blog and one day you will surely attain the status of high page rank website. AND people will be knocking at your doors to get a link from you, even if they have to pay you money. Happy SEO
